    I am currently serving in the United States Air Force and a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association.  I have recently been made aware that the { font-size: 110%; text-decoration: underline; }Congressional Budget Office has made a proposed change to TRICARE costs for the military (the CBO report is Volume I, Budget Operations on Health Care).     Although I do understand this is only a proposal, I am seeking your legislative support to protect the military from cuts in benefits and/or increases in fees that undermine readiness and in many cases break promises made to us when we enlisted or re-enlisted.   

   The report presented numerous recommendations that could significantly increase the cost of healthcare for active-duty military family members as well as retirees and their families.  Some of the recommendations included charging family members of active duty members a healthcare fee as well as recommendations that would more than double co-payment and fees for over-the-age 62 retirees and their families.  The report also examines dis-enrolling Priority Group 7 and 8 veterans from the VA healthcare system.  

    I understand that some of the ideas directly contradict public statements by President Obama and key Congressional committee leaders.  I seek your support to protect the hard-earned benefits of enlisted members and their families.  Please know that such changes and charges are seen as the government failing to adhere to promises made as we entered active duty and in many cases will have an extremely negative effect on our ability to take care of the family.
